Product Description

3M™ Cold Shrink Connector Insulators 8440 Series are open-ended, factory-expanded silicone rubber tubes designed with cold shrink technology and loaded on a removable plastic core. To install the connection, position it over the inline connector, pull the loose tab on the plastic core while unwinding the core in a counterclockwise direction, allowing the ends of the tube to shrink and form a secure seal. Engineered for primary insulation of solid dielectric insulated wires and cable splices rated up to 1000 volts, the insulators can be used for indoor and outdoor applications to provide a moisture-resistant seal. They are easy to install by hand, requiring no additional tools or heating sources. Accommodating an application range of 0.35 in (8.86 mm) to 0.95 in (24.13 mm) for installations on 6 AWG to 3/0 AWG, 3M™ Cold Shrink Connector Insulators 8440 Series provide physical protection and environmental sealing for terminal lug barrels and inline connectors. These insulators are ideal for electrical aircraft cables, cable trays or overhead applications, sheath repairs, and secondary splices for both copper and aluminum conductors. They can withstand an operating temperature range between -66 °F to 500 °F (-55 °C to 260 °C). With reliable thermal stability, high chemical resistance, fire resistance, and a secure moisture seal, 3M™ Cold Shrink Connector Insulators 8440 Series is your answer to dependable insulating performance.
