The Makita 18V LXT® Brushless 3" Cut-Off Tool (XCM01Z) delivers power and speed in an ultra-compact size for a range of cutting applications. It's an ideal solution for users seeking a more compact cutting solution with less weight or for applications in tight spaces. A powerful Makita-built brushless motor delivers 20,000 RPM for faster cutting through a range of materials. The electronically controlled brushless motor efficiently uses energy to match torque and RPM to the changing demands of the application. The brushless motor optimizes battery usage for up to 50% longer run time per charge. Convenience features include an ergonomic design for one-handed operation, a conveniently located switch for easy forward and reverse operation, and an L.E.D. light that illuminates the work area. The Cut-Off Tool also includes a tool-less dust collection cut-off guard that installs easily and allows up to 5/8" cuts when installed. It weighs only 2.6lbs with a battery installed (sold separately) for reduced operator fatigue. It's part of Makita's expanding 18V LXT® system, the world's largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion batteries. Makita 18V LXT® batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is a communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating.
