Nason Paint Systems We Stock
- Ful-Thane 2K urethane single stage: durable color and gloss in one product, a popular choice for overall paint jobs, trucks and equipment. Includes Ful-Thane HS binder, ready-mixed colors and matching activators.
- Fast Dry Acrylic Enamel (FAC): an economical single stage for machinery, chassis, fleet and equipment work, such as Fast Dry M&E acrylic enamel binder and factory-packaged colors like chassis black.
- Ful-Base basecoat: solvent-borne basecoat tints for color-matched repairs on basecoat/clearcoat finishes. Topcoat it with a Nason clear.
- SelectClear 2K urethane clears: 498-00 Multi-Panel Clear for panels and overall jobs, and 496-00 Spot Clear for fast spot and panel repairs.
- Primers and sealers: SelectPrime 2K urethane primer-surfacer for filling and sanding, Ful-Poxy epoxy primer/sealer for corrosion protection over bare metal, plus SelectSeal 2K sealers and etch primers.
Single Stage or Basecoat/Clear?
Choose single stage (Ful-Thane or Fast Dry Acrylic Enamel) for solid colors, commercial vehicles, equipment and budget restorations. It's faster and cheaper because color and gloss go on in one product.
Choose basecoat/clear (Ful-Base plus SelectClear) to match a factory basecoat/clearcoat finish, or for metallic and pearl colors on modern cars. The clear adds depth, gloss and UV protection.
Build a Complete Nason Job
- Prime bare metal with Ful-Poxy epoxy or an etch primer.
- Fill and block with SelectPrime 2K primer-surfacer.
- Seal with SelectSeal for uniform color holdout.
- Apply your Ful-Thane or Fast Dry single stage, or Ful-Base basecoat.
- Clear basecoat with SelectClear 498-00 or 496-00.
Use the activators and reducers specified on each product's technical data sheet, and match reducer speed to your shop temperature.
Nason Paint FAQ
Who makes Nason paint?
Nason is made by Axalta Coating Systems, formerly DuPont Performance Coatings. Axalta also makes the premium Cromax line and Imron industrial coatings.
Is Nason paint good for a car restoration?
Yes. Nason gives a durable, professional-looking finish at a lower cost than premium systems, which makes it a common choice for restorations, fleets and older vehicles. For the highest gloss and color-match standards, shops often step up to Cromax.
Nason vs Cromax: what's the difference?
Both are Axalta systems. Nason is the value line for everyday repairs and overall paint jobs; Cromax is the premium line built for collision-shop speed and OEM color accuracy. See our Imron vs Cromax vs Nason comparison.
Where can I buy Nason paint?
Nason is sold through authorized Axalta distributors. You can order Nason paint, clears, primers and activators online from Strobels Supply, an authorized Axalta distributor. Prices are listed on each product page.
